Weymouth Seagull

A short drive - near Weymouth

Weymouth is perfectly located for exploring the Jurassic Coast and the tranquil and historic county of Dorset. Hardy Country is just 15 minutes by car, nearby is the Cerne Abbas Giant. Corfe, Maiden, Sandsfoot and Lulworth Castles as well as Iron Age Forts are all within a few miles.

The Jurassic Coast stretches alomost 90 miles from East Dorset to Devon, with the fossil centres of Lyme Regis and Charmouth, the cliffs at Golden Cap and magnificent vistas of Chesil Beach and the Fleet Lagoon along the way. You can stop off at Abbotsbury to tour the Swannery or the Tropical Gardens nearby or visit one of the many welcoming country inns for a meal and refreshment.

Try a local beer (for example Dorset Piddle), eat a Dorset Knob (biscuit) or try your hand at nettle-eating (World Championships every year). Dorset is a county full of stunning scenery, history and surprises and well worth coming back again for more visits.
